about

Hope In Your Eyes was written to pay tribute to my good friend Brian MacDonald, he showed such bravery throughout his battle with Motor Neurone Disease. After seeing photos Brian had posted after his brother arranged a flight for him inspired me to write a song that I feel metaphorically resonated with the hope and determination that he had shown in his life.

lyrics

You were taken
Taken too soon
Our hearts breaking
For the man that we knew

You’re there smiling
When we close our eyes
With arms open
You say it’s alright

Your belts fastened tight
As you take off for flight

With hope in your eyes
You take to the sky like a dream
With hope in your eyes
You take to the sky like a dream

You were fearless
Never making a sound
Always helpful
To all that you found

You are strong now
As you were in life
You could see us
When we said goodnight

Your belts fastened tight
As you take off for flight

With hope in your eyes
You take to the sky like a dream
With hope in your eyes
You take to the sky like a dream

about

David Roddie Glasgow, UK

I opened recording and rehearsal studios when I was 20 years old and nurtured that business for over 10 years. In most of that time, I never performed live or wrote many songs to completion other than writing for clients of the studio. ... more
